Brookea

Full name and orig. publication: Brookea Benth., in Benth. & Hook. f., Gen. Pl. 2: 939 (May 1876).

Etymology: Named after Charles Brooke (1829-1936), the second Rajah of Sarawak.

Notes: This genus, consisting of four species from Borneo (the fourth, B. auriculata, was recently described by Yamazaki, J. Jap. Bot. 69: 282-284, 1994), has been occasionally included in the Gesneriaceae, but is now generally referred to Scrophulariaceae.
