Notes: The generic name is derived from lat. lampadarius, “torchbearer”, referring to the long peduncle holding the compact inflorescence head above the foliage. The genus is defined by an unusual combination of characters: the inflorescence form, the biglandular nectary, the superior ovary and the somewhat fleshy capsule. The tribal placement is uncertain, as the generic characters occur in other genera scattered over several tribes. Placement in the Episcieae is perhaps a possibility.
