Rehmannia

Full name and orig. publication: Rehmannia [Libosch. ex] Fisch. & C. Mey., Index Sem. Hortus Petrop. 1: 36 (1835) , nom. cons.

Etymology: Named after the German Joseph H. Rehmann (1779-1831); he went to Russia and was here a privy counsil and medical attendent, executive council of the Russian medicinal system.

Notes: This genus, with c. 9 species from eastern Asia, has been sometimes included in Gesneriaceae, but belongs to Scrophulariaceae, where it was originally described.
